Chiropractic FAQs

WHICH CONDITIONS CAN A CHIROPRACTOR TREAT?

There are various health conditions that a chiropractor can treat.

These include patients suffering from headaches, backache and neckache especially.

Patients suffering from these conditions and with painful injuries of the musculoskeletal system may consider obtaining the assistance of a chiropractor.

Often, it is the nervous system which is causing the pain and a chiropractor can successfully treat these problems.

WHERE WOULD I FIND A RELIABLE CHIROPRACTOR?

Although our health blog and site is an excellent source of finding a chiropractor to treat you, we could also recommend word of mouth.

Asking at your local doctor’s practice is a good place to start. This is where you should be reliably referred to a chiropractor of good repute.

You could also ask friends and family for their recommendation, although we would always suggest advice from a trusted medical practitioner first.

ARE CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENTS SAFE?

People are often concerned that chiropractic treatments are safe, especially if they are not especially knowledgeable about them.

Because chiropractic treatments do not use drugs and the therapies are not invasive, they are very safe. They are often chosen by people who cannot or do not want to use drugs, for a variety of reasons.

However, we would never like to suggest that any treatment is completely risk free or would never result in some potential side effect.

It is possible that there could be a degree of aching or some light soreness, occurring immediately after, or slightly later on, from the treatment.

In most cases, these are only very mild and should have eased after a day or so.

In some very rare cases, neck treatment, which can be used to help increase the mobility in the neck and treat spasms and other problems, can result in an incredibly rare stroke.

This is only in one to three cases per 100,000 patients, and it is important to point out that this is a similar instance as would occur in the population in general.

Overall, it is an incredibly safe procedure.

CAN CHIROPRACTORS PRACTICE IN A HOSPITAL?

Yes. A chiropractor can operate in a hospital or other outpatient setting.

It is now commonplace to find chiropractors in a medical setting.

WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT?

Although you should check carefully with your insurance provider, most policies do now cover chiropractic treatment.

We would advise you ask your insurers if you are unsure.
